“Like a frog in a well”

frog in a well

“Like a frog in a well” is a strong proverb to alert people not to hide inside our comfort zone.

Like a frog in a well [jǐng dǐ zhī wā]:

Literally speaking, the meaning of such a proverb depicts that a frog is forever inside a well and can only see from the perspective of a small hole from above. Metaphorically speaking, it portrays a person with no ambitions and is unfortunately satisfied with the life living inside the well.

E.g. Stop being like a frog in a well! Get out and experience things, fail and you learn!

This is a good motivating proverb to encourage people to step out of the comfort zone. We need to get ourselves hurt in order to learn and therefore digest new discoveries.
